Site Updates!

Thanks for all of your email and your contributions, they will be up soon. We apologize for the junk
postings on the site, it seems there is no way to allow free reign to our users without some  garbage getting
on the boards. We will probably have to create some logins when we update the site.

A long overdue link to The Fillmore East Vault . If you haven't seen this site yet, check it out.
This is your opportunity to own a piece of the Fillmore East past. The people at Wolfgangs
Vault (Wolfgang was Bill Graham's real name) purchased the treasures of Bill Graham Productions.

More (cheaper) T-shirts coming to the site soon.

More updates soon!

Site Updates!

We've updated the site with some goodies we think you'll enjoy. Check out the new artifacts in our ARTIFACTS section that people have been sending us all year. We've added a bunch of rock photos(new AND old) from the great DON ATERS, who sent us more Fillmore photos and of some artists that played the Fillmore and are still kickin' butt! Check out the new INTERACTIVE SHOW LISTING, as well as a new VIRTUAL PROGRAM. We've added a guest book for your greetings and memories, and cleared out the Bulletin Board for new messages. We've also cleaned up the site, made it easier to navigate and reorganized the Bibliography and Discography section. A special thanks to photographer/historian Elliot Landy (www.landyvision.com) for use of that great new Janis-At-Fillmore-East photo that graces our home page.

Thanks to everyone who contributed and visited the site this year!

It isn't often that we get to give you news from a venue that has been closed for more than 30 years, but we have some this month. We share the following from www.alkooper.com :

In addition, in about a year, The Mike  Bloomfield box set that everyone has fantasized about, will also be released.  (Fall 2003) Produced by yours truly, and executive directed by Mike’s  brother, Allen Bloomfield, this will be a labor of love and will hopefully  make guitarists everywhere fret (if ya know what I mean)'

January 2002

We've updated the site and wanted to start by thanking everyone for their contributions. There are all kinds of treasures for your perusal at www.fillmore-east.com. Look at a ticket stub autographed by Jim Morrison, another Virtual Fillmore East Program and a peek at the 1970 Schaefer Music Festival program as well. We've put all your comments, suggestions and links on the site.

West Coast based photographer Don Aters been gracious enough to send us a wealth of Fillmore East photos as well as other memoribilia and rock photos he has shot over the past 30 or so years. We're lucky enough to have be able to show you scans of many of these photos and we created a page for all of Don's photos, including ones not shot at the Fillmore East. Don is also offering all of you that visit fillmore-east.com a special opportunity to own these wonderful pieces of rock history at a great price. Check out Don's web sites at www.haightstreetmusicnews.com and www.music-views.com.

This month we also heard from Elliot Landy, whose web site http://www.landyvision.com/ also features Fillmore East, Woodstock and other tremendous photos of legendary rock groups. He has some great books and CD's available on the site.

We also had scans sent from George Pericharos (www.astrorockphotos.com) and put those on the site as well.

Not everything we received is up on the site yet, so come back often over the next few weeks.

It is alway great hear from and meet people that share the great memories of the Fillmore East and we hope you continue to share these with all of us. Enjoy!

SUPER SESSIONS

On September 18, 2001, the legendary Al Kooper released RARE & WELL DONE, his long awaited collection of remastered hits, rare unreleased recordings and other treats spanning his amazing career since 1964. He followed the release with a series of live shows with one of his current bands, DR. AL & THE FUNKY FACULTY. The lineup included Al and a group of incredibly talented professors from the Berklee School Of Music.

We had the pleasure of seeing one of these shows last October. Originally scheduled for a week after 9/11, the rescheduled show at the Bottom Line was dedicated to the victims and heroes of 9/11. Al donated his earnings to the cause and collected from the audience at the end of the show. Make sure to see Al when he is near you, this is one smoking band, and of course no one can play the B3 and arrange a brass section like Al Kooper and his voice is as strong as ever.

Al told the audience that while the 9/11 events canceled the original show, a huge blizzard on March 13, 1993 did not stop the Silver Anniversary of The Child Is Father To The Man show also at the Bottom Line. The show went on while the city was paralyzed by the storm. Thanks to Bob Levy for supplying us an artifact - unused ticket stubs from that show. Check out the Bottom Line page in the Other Venues section at www.fillmore-east.com/bottomline.htm

I emailed my thanks to Al the day after the show and he answered with a tantalizing fact: during his work on RARE & WELL DONE, he unearthed tapes of the Super Session shows with Mike Bloomfield at the Fillmore East and will be releasing them sometime in 2002!

You can help secure your place in Rock and Roll History. If you have any pictures, playbills, ticket stubs or any materials relating to the 12/13/68 & 12/14/68 Super Sessions shows at the Fillmore East, Al Kooper wants you to know that 'inclusion, credits and fees' could be yours, plus the satisfaction of being a part of this exciting project. Send any information you may have to webmaster@fillmore-east.com

You can pick up a copy of RARE AND WELL DONE at Amazon.com by clicking here.  While you're there, treat yourself to a copy of Al's book, Backstage Passes & Backstabbing Bastards : Memoirs of a Rock 'N' Roll Survivor , one of the best Rock and Roll books I have read.  True to his promise in the book, Al signed our copy at the Bottom Line show. Visit Al Kooper's web site at www.alkooper.com.
