The Jefferson Airplane

Ron Rosoff:

The Airplane was my intro to the Fillmore professionally.  I had been hanging out there at least since March '68.  I  showed my May '68 shots to the manager, a wonderful man named Kip Cohen, who combined a mellow personality with  the ability to get things done and people to listen to him.  He said if he'd have had them before the performance, he  would have paid for their use in the outside display cases.  Since I was hanging out heavily, when the Airplane was  booked to return in July, I got the first paid photo display by the Fillmore. They HAD to be good. Does anyone remember Bill Graham's favorite word...... "Shit!" ?  One day he was in a unusually bad  mood because a couple of us were hanging out in the business office between shows.  He looked around the room,  taking in the desk, the piles of paper on it, the stuff on the walls and everyone in the office and demanded: "What is all  this shit?" including everything and everyone.  I got paid $ 100 for the use of 5 photos, 2 in color.  Just to keep your interest, or maybe just to maintain mine, the  enclosed photo was NOT one of the five.
